DATA & DELETION POLICY

This policy explains how NoteSam handles your data and how you can request deletion.


1. YOUR DATA


NoteSam stores the following data:


Local (on your device only):

- Handwritten notes and strokes (.ink files)

- Notebooks, folders, and page structure

- Downloaded templates

- Audio recordings

- App preferences


Cloud (only if you enable sync):

- Encrypted note data (we cannot read it)

- Account information (email, display name)

- Sync metadata (IDs, versions, timestamps)

- Subscription status


2. HOW TO DELETE YOUR DATA


Option A: Delete individual notebooks

- Long-press a notebook > Delete

- This removes the notebook and all its pages from your device

- If synced, the encrypted cloud copy is also deleted


Option B: Delete your account

- Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account

- This permanently deletes:

- Your account and profile

- All synced data from our servers

- Your subscription (will not be renewed)

- Local data on your device is NOT deleted (you may keep it)

- Cloud deletion is completed within 30 days


Option C: Request deletion via email

- Send a request to [email protected] from your registered email

- We will process the request within 30 days

- You will receive confirmation when complete


3. DATA EXPORT


Before deleting your account, you can export all your data:

- Export individual notebooks as .nbk files

- Export your entire library as .nbk.zip backup

- Export notes as PDF, PNG, or SVG


4. THIRD-PARTY SYNC PROVIDERS


If you use WebDAV, Google Drive, or other third-party sync:

- Your data is stored on YOUR chosen provider

- Deleting your NoteSam account does NOT delete data from third-party providers

- You must delete that data directly from your provider
